Sean's Birthday!

Two of my favorite people turned 24 on December 8th, both of them were in my bridal party. Sadly Jenny lives too far away for us to celebrate together, so she had to be content with an off key rendition of Happy Birthday on her voicemail from me. Sean however lived up by Old Town Alexandria, so we could visit him, and visit him we did!

We seem to know more people in Alexandria than we do in Richmond, so there was quite a group of awesome people out to celebrate his birthday. Sean was obviously there, along with his girlfriend Bridget. Will came out, as did Jori. Chrystal was there. And Mike and Nicole joined too! I kind of love how friends from all parts of both Taylor and my lives have become friends with each other as well. 

We went to an awesome cheese shop called La Fromagerie where we consumed far too much wine and cheese, all of which was delicious. Also, oh my god the mac and cheese!! 

The cat mask, for the record, came from the birthday card we gave Sean. It is supposed to make him irresistible to girls. Not that he needs to be, since he already has Bridge!

We stopped by an awesome coffee/gelato shop after that called Killer ESP which is adorably trendy and everyone working there was so friendly! Also, the salted caramel latte is delish. 

Chrystal and I posed with some random adorable dog and then under Christmas lights. 

Then we wandered into a restaurant/bar called The Light Horse where we spent the rest of the evening chatting and drinking a bit. 

For the record in northern Virginia they really don't like it when you still have a vertical ID. Mines valid until like 2014 though, and I'll be damned if a grumpy bartender is going to make me get a new one with a picture where I'm not allowed to smile before I have to.   

All in all it was a lovely evening, and I am glad Sean gave us an excuse to visit and have a good time. 

Our Weekend

You know the drill by now, highlights below. 

We won 3 dollars in scratch off lottery tickets. (We spent 10.)

The 40 dollar Living Social to Juleps covered the bottle of wine we drank. We are now poor.

I experienced Record Store Day at midnight. Too many hipsters for my taste. 

Dad and I enjoyed CanCan pastries for breakfast. 

Taylor and his family enjoyed Country Style Donuts. 

I made bridesmaid's gifts with a tile saw. Because I'm badass. 

Taylor helped to put together a swingset for his niece and nephew which they climbed like monkeys.

We celebrated Jason's birthday by giving him a remote controlled helicopter. Best in-laws EVER.

A Belated Birthday Post

Sooooo yes, this is really really late, but in my defense I was on a lot of drugs when Taylor's birthday rolled around.

Still, I managed to pull of a fairly awesome celebration for him. Because I love him, and I am awesome...but mostly because I love him.

He got a sweet set of gifts that were artfully arranged by my mother. I told her I was going to claim credit for them, but lets face it, its amazing I managed to make a cake with all the drugs I was on...you'd never believe I managed organizing things well too.

Taylor's gifts had an alcohol theme to them. Because who doesn't like alcohol? The awesome bar cart and globe that opens to allow you to keep glasses and an ice bucket in it were from me and some pretty awesome finds I believe they were. I also got him a song map and two tickets to go see The Head and The Heart . There were also thirteen button ups. My parents gave him the ice bucket and the vintage scotch bottle and a bottle of booze that is not scotch. Spoiled boy.

He had requested a peanut butter cake, which is really not an easy thing to find a recipe for but I did it! Yellow cake with creamy peanut butter filling and a lindt chocolate buttercream frosting. Divine! I had to borrow eggs from my parents neighbors though as I kept dropping the ones I had. Oops.

The candles were trick candles. The best kind. They were also pink.

So here's to Taylor almost being done with his 20's!

Happy Birthday Evelyn

I see that Evelyn already posted a happy birthday to herself today, but I'd like to add my own big HAPPY BIRTHDAY! to my lovely fiancee. I sadly have to waste away at work as she is having fun today, but we will celebrate tonight!

I don't have any fun birthday photos to post, as Ev already posted the picture of Whimsy (if you can't tell, she named her) but here is a picture for you. I took it in the moment where I absolutely knew, without a shadow of a doubt, that I loved her more than anything in the world. That moment has since turned into an engagement, and a promise to spend EVERY birthday she will ever have with her. I look forward to every single one, until we are both "old as dirt".

Happy Birthday to Me!

Today I turn 23. I am old as dirt.

Well not really, TAY is old as dirt, I'm just a year older.

He already gave me my adorable birthday gift. Her name is Whimsy and she just might be the cutest little hedgehog ever.

We're off to dinner and cake and gifts with my family tonight. I am thoroughly spoiled this time of year and I love every second of it!
