Revisiting 25 before 25
Time to reevaluate the things to do before I turn 25 list!
Are you all super over this list by now?
Unfortunately for you its my blog so you don't really get a choice in what I post... And I gotta keep looking it over, otherwise I'll never get it all done!

5 facts
Filler post!
Find below five random as eff all facts about each of us.
E-
- I probably couldn't eat most of my favorite foods all day everyday, however I think samosas and froyo are an exception to this rule. I could totally eat them all day everyday.
- I loathe any form of floor covering. Don't talk to me about how rugs tie a room together, you don't have to clean 6 animals worth of grunge out of them.
- If I could be barefoot at all points in time I would be. Behaving in a socially acceptable fashion is totally overrated.
- I firmly believe that if there is a heaven it is filled with baby animals and ice cream.
- One of my favorite things about my job is how incredibly normal the people I interact with make me feel.
T-
- I think M&M colors each have a different flavor. Yellow tastes the best.
- I have such an irrational fear of snakes that even worms creep me out.
- My dream house is the tree house from Swiss Family Robinson.
- Ninja Turtles - Coming Out Of Their Shells is one of my favorite albums of all time.
- I am terrible at drawing people, and my handwriting is so bad I have to write in all caps.
Which facts did you already know? Any surprises? What's a random fact about you? (There's a freaking comment box, FILL IT OUT.)

Obsessing over…
This. If you really loved me you would donate to this to make sure Logan and Veronica can live happily ever after. Its crucial to my happiness. Don't judge me.
Working on…
Unpacking, setting up the house, being adults. Do you know how little furniture we own? Our house looks a tad bit ridiculous. Like seriously, comical.
Thinking about…
Dinner. I went grocery shopping the yesterday, I don't even know the last time I went properly grocery shopping. I then promptly ate an entire carton of raspberries. Fresh fruit should be in my life more often. There are strawberries in the fridge, and grapes, and apples. And pluots! It's going to take about 3.5 seconds for me to nom them when I walk in the door.

Anticipating…
Spring! The daffodils are out in full force on VCU's campus and it makes me long for pretty warm mornings made for sitting on the screened in porch with a cup of tea.
Listening to…
Electropop. I have missed it so much in my life! I need to find my ipod and ipod dock so that I can get the beats pumping around the house. Tay will not be pleased.
Eating/Drinking…
Fruit. So much fruit. Also on a rootbeer kick. So good. Plus avocados. DELICIOUS. (Not rootbeer with avocados in it...each one, separately.)
Wishing…
Boxes magically unpacked themselves. Also that I had Veronica Mars on DVD. And that I had picked up salt and lime and garlic at the grocery store so I could make guac. Oh and sugar - so I can make a cup of tea. I'm obviously not very good at this grocery shopping thing.

Taylor's birthday. Psyched to go up to DC, explore the zoo/natural history museum, stay here, and give him his birthday present!
Working on…
Replacing buttons on Taylor's button ups. Yeah, I'm domestic and stuffs.
Thinking about…
What goals I've actually accomplished from my 25 before 25 list. Might go check that out momentarily. (I regularly forget what my life goals are...)

Getting my new glasses in the mail. I've been wearing my current pair for three years. Its time for a change. Particularly after seeing them printed on EVERYTHING in October.

Mom's hipster pandora playlist. Dr. Dog is currently playing. She might be cooler than me.

Obsessing over…
Buying this new house. We've signed all the paperwork, set up homeowners insurance, had an appraisal done...and have heard nothing from anyone. Why don't people communicate?? I am terrified they're just going to call us and be all, yeah...about that...no.
Working on…
A massive to-do list. I love love love to-do lists. They make me a happy camper.
Thinking about…
How awesome this weekend is going to be. Tay and I are going square dancing and then we're taking Becks to Lego Fest. Square dancing involves food carts and beer. And Lego Fest has A LIFE SIZE HOBBIT HOLE.
Anticipating…
Going home and eating the butterfinger hearts I know are sitting right next to the couch. Also, its supposed to snow this weekend!
Listening to…
The ambient sounds of the library. Don't let anyone tell you any differently, academic libraries are loud places.
Eating/Drinking…
I've been teaching today which means I've been compulsively drinking water (its my nervous tick when I speak to large groups of freshmen.)
Wishing…
I could just buy everything I want to put in the new house. Like the awesome wallpaper I want to put in the bedroom, and these amazing fifties style stools I want to put at the countertop, and a new king size bed so Tay can stop complaining that I am a bed hog.

I give you...lists!
So I have like nine thousand million photos to share with you all, buuuuuuuuut I'm lazy and haven't put them on my computer yet. So instead of showing you all the awesome things we've done I'm going to go over my 24 before 24 list and make a new 25 before 25 list. You excited? I knew you would be!
Previous list -
I'm gonna do em all this time! Watch me! What would be on your list?? (I see you creeping, leave a comment people!)
Previous list -
- Get married - Accomplished!!!!!!!!
- Get pin-up girl tattoo - Changed my mind a bit about what I wanted. Got it designed, now I just have to get it tattooed. Seeing as getting a tattoo actually requires the ink this one is a fail.
- Move into a house - This one is also a fail seeing as we are still living in an apartment. (For free through, thanks Dad!) We have a plan though, and hopefully things will actually go smoothly. (Again, THANKS DAD!)
- Learn basic embroidery - I took a class, I practiced with our wedding table numbers, this one is accomplished!!!!
- Master chocolate chip cookies - Also accomplished!!! I am a big fan of the recipe on the back of the tollhouse chocolate chip bags.
- Keep a pretty fridge - Fail. A pretty fridge requires groceries, which we NEVER have.
- Finish my book - Fail. I don't think I even pretended to attempt this.
- Do the DIYs I pin to pinterest - I did some of them! So I count this as accomplished!!!
- Learn to style my hair - So I went to a proper hair stylist and had her chop it all off so I can easily wear it down and curly. Some conditioning formula thrown into towel dried hair and I'm good to go. Maybe this doesn't technically count as styling my hair, but I'm still going to go with accomplished!!!
- Refinish vintage trunks - Taylor technically did this, but it still counts as accomplished!
- Sew t-shirt quilt - Yeah, fail.
- Write more letters - Accomplished!!! Not even counting all of the thank you cards I've written, I have become the postcard queen, AND I have become the penpal of a few lovely people. I enjoy it immensely, so if you want to be my penpal too just let me know!
- Complete Lego Star Wars on the wii - I actually am not entirely sure where this game is, we also got an xbox as a wedding gift which won out over the wii in the fight to be connected to the TV. Fail.
- Maintain a daily journal - I was doing SO WELL. But have since totally failed at this.
- Take more pictures - Holy jesus do we ever take a ton of pictures. Between my phone, the instax camera, disposable cameras I periodically make Tay buy, and the digital camera Tay's parentals got us for Christmas this was truly accomplished.
- Take "if you can't say something nice don't say anything at all" to heart - Ummm, I would like to believe I became a nicer person this year, but I can definitely say I am not the type to say nothing at all. Sadly a fail.
- Sew skirts and dresses - Fail. My sewing machine is sad and underused.
- Learn to like a non starch vegetable- Asparagus, broccoli, peas, green beans, carrots, spinach. I'm going to count this as accomplished!!! And never think about it again.
- Find some form of exercise - Yeah....exercise really isn't my thing. Fail.
- Finish knitting the scarf I've had laying around for two years - Hahahahaha, fail.
- Put all the random ephemera I collect into a smash journal - The issue with this is its a constant thing that will never truly be finished, but I do it, so its being counted as accomplished!
- Start rental company with Mom - Accomplished!!! www.gracefulswanrva.com. We are awesome!
- Roadtrip with Taylor a few times - We went to Kentucky, we basically lived in Pennsylvania, we went to North Carolina. Accomplished!!!
- Turn wardrobe completely into dresses and skirts - I did this, and then just recently bought a couple of pairs of skinny jeans. Going to count as accomplished and then say that jeans aren't necessarily a bad thing.
Overall not too bad eh? I accomplished more than I failed and while it would have been ideal to have accomplished all of them, I think that is a tad bit unrealistic with some of them. I mean really, how much sewing did I think I was going to get done in the same year I got married and started a new company?
So now for the new and improved EVEN LONGER list. Funny how the length of time stays the same but the amount we expect to get done as we get older gets larger.
New List -
- Move into a house - I have this insane rule where I won't use anything we got for our wedding until we have a new house. Its like a slow torture knowing we have nice things and not being able to use them. Also, I would kill someone for a dog door.
- Plan one free date night a month - Who says you have to spend a lot of money to go on a date? I am going to go home and plan 12 FREE dates for Tay and I.
- Commit to the ink - Its all designed, just gotta find someone to put it on my skin.
- Make 12 different ice cream flavors - I love making ice cream! Its so easy. And I have like nine million recipes pinned.
- Compile important dates and addresses - Guess who's going to be making a new Google calendar???
- Finish that damn scarf - Seriously.
- Organize all of my digital pictures - And find a way to safely back them up. And back up the back up. Maybe print them out? Either way, organize them!
- Meal planning and grocery shopping - Taylor does all the cooking, the least I could do is the planning and prep work.
- Get out of credit card debt - And stay out of it. We do this weird rollercoaster where we pay it off and then rack it back up. We aren't really irresponsible with money, but we could be more consistent.
- Take the dogs for a walk once a week - Everyone wins with this one! And it keeps Pumpkin from getting fat, which is bad bad bad for a daschund.
- Garden - Grow something, ANYTHING, without killing it. Raspberry bushes would be an ideal choice.
- Spend all of the gift cards I have - Its money that you don't have to feel guilty about spending...actually, I don't understand why I haven't spent them all already...
- Foster a rescue animal - Though only once because chances are we won't let whatever we foster go.
- Make bucketloads of teacup bracelets - Its like the one craft I love to do. I'm going to make Tay buy me a tile saw.
- Go to a VMFA exhibit - I can pretend to be cultured can't I?
- Develop a morning routine - Maybe if I have something to look forward to I won't hate mornings so much?
- Throw a party - For any reason at all.
- Learn to make some cute origami shapes - Fun with folded paper!
- Start a book club - Where we only read happy books.
- Go for a train ride - I love train rides! I don't even care where we take the train to.
- Frame all of our prints - We have collected a bunch of cool stuff for our walls, we just have to put em all in frames and stick em up!
- Refinish all of the secondhand furniture we have - No better way to make thing look fresh and new than a lovely coat of paint!
- Make marshmallows - I've wanted to do this forever, its a must.
- Leave cute notes around town - Cuz who wouldn't want to find a cheerful note?
- Get preggerz - No one is surprised at this one eh? Baby fever!

Lately
Listening - to Christmas music. Non stop. Tis the season and all that jazz.
Eating - milkshakes and cheese plates. Not together, though I wouldn't be against that.
Reading - the Jack Reacher series by Lee Child. Its ridiculously intense. (Taylor doesn't read, so I tell him the plot.)
Watching - the Giants play football and One Tree Hill on netflix. I'm sure you can guess who watches what.
Enjoying - spending time with friends from all parts of our lives. The holiday season is AWESOME.
Anticipating - starting the house hunting!

Ways in Which I am an Old Lady
So yesterday I had a craving for tuna melts. (Yes mom, I know you think they are gross.) So I went to the grocery store on my way home from work and picked up some tuna. And some pistachio ice cream.
While eating these two delicious things and ignoring the noise that was Taylor's band playing in the garage it occurred to me that I am pretty much an 80 year old woman. Here is a list to prove it.
1) My name is Evelyn Anne
2) I think tuna melts are delicious
3) I will voluntarily eat an entire pint of pistachio ice cream
4) I have a long haired miniature dachshund
5) I believe women should wear dresses at all times
6) I have a collection of tea cups
7) I have three cats
8) I live in cardigans
9) I complain about how ridiculous anyone under 30 is
10) My knees pop constantly
11) I'm a librarian
12) I still write checks
13) I love licorice flavored candies
14) I have random opinions that I refuse to change (for example I LOATHE carpet and floor rugs)
15.) I bake a lot of bundt cakes
Point. Proven.

Netflix Addicts
Taylor and I don't have cable. I would say its because we are enlightened and don't care about such mindless things as TV shows. But really its because we don't have a key to the basement of our apartment and as such none of the cable companies could set up service for us. So instead we use Netflix through the internet we get from our phone line. (Yes, we are living in the early 2000's.)
I thought I would throw together a quick list of our current favorite shows to marathon. Both Taylor and I have COMPLETELY different tastes when it comes to TV so the shows are broken down into three lists.
Taylor's Faves:

Overlapping Faves:
As you can see Taylor prefers his shows to have a bit more thought put into them. I just like a show chock full of characters I can yell at when they keep hooking up with the wrong people. Or where stuff blows up.

Revisiting the 24 before 24 list
So I thought I would do a quick re-evaluation of my life goals list. Because I think its important to keep reminding yourself of things you're failing at.
24 Before 24 List
- Get married - duh Still have to wait until October for this one, but I'm pretty confident it will be achieved!
- Get pin-up girl tattoo - Tay is going to design it! I'm super excited. Gonna be the coolest mom at the PTA Turns out I have decided to go in a completely different direction from a pin-up. And it is already designed, but I do believe my mother will kill me if I get this done before the wedding, sooo I must cool my jets until Novemberish.
- Move into a house - Can we talk about how over landlords I am? Finding a house is kind of a pain in the ass. Particularly when you're cheap like Tay and I are. And when you aren't really devoting that much time to it.
- Learn basic embroidery - Cuz I wanna be a well rounded housewife DONE!!!!!! I now know all of the basic stitches, and I'm not too shabby at it. In fact, if you visit mom's house in the future you might just find something I have embroidered.
- Master chocolate chip cookies - I swear I can never get them to bake up properly DONE!!!!!! Turns out when they tell you to let your butter come to room temperature its not just a suggestion.
- Keep a pretty fridge - I suppose I should start with cleaning it... Yeah still kind of slacking on this one. I just don't seem to care that much.
- Finish my book - Seriously, I have the whole plot, just have to write it! I may just replace this one with something else...
- Do the DIYs I pin to pinterest - Otherwise whats the point in saving them? I'm going to count this one as DONE due to all the wedding DIY's we've done, as well as the multiple recipes I've made off of my pins.
- Learn to style my hair - Should possibly invest in a brush, and a curling iron I really just want to cut all of my hair off...
- Refinish vintage trunks - So they can actually be used as storage We refinished one! And then my mom stole it. I'm still going to count it as DONE!!!
- Sew t-shirt quilt - Or donate all the tshirts that no longer fit There is a snowballs chance in hell of this happening before the wedding.
- Write more letters - Who doesn't like receiving snail mail? DONE!!!!! I have written buckets of letters and postcards, and plan to keep it up for the foreseeable future.
- Complete Lego Star Wars on the wii The wii has become solely used for Netflix. I will work on changing this.
- Maintain a daily journal - Mom bought me an awesome one for Christmas While I sometimes catch up on said journal weeks at a time, every date has an entry. And that's what counts right?
- Take more pictures - With the awesome instax camera my parents gave me for Christmas and the digital one they gave me for my birthday last year. Have fallen a little bit in love with my Instax camera, am going to buy another film camera, and once I unearth my digital camera maybe the blog won't just be instagram photos.
- Take "if you can't say something nice don't say anything at all" to heart - This will be hard I honestly forgot this was a goal...so I would say I'm failing at it.
- Sew skirts and dresses - I have so many patterns and fabric already Failing at this as well.
- Learn to like a non starch vegetable - Tomatoes are a fruit and don't count Asparagus, broccoli, peas, green beans, carrots, spinach. I'm going to count this as DONE!!! And never think about it again.
- Find some form of exercise We stole a treadmill from Whitney and Jason, which I actually use. So while I won't count this as done until I have more of a routine, I'm at least making progress.
- Finish knitting the scarf I've had laying around for two years I'm going to do this if it kills me. (Which means I will be a knitting fool come the last week of December.)
- Put all the random ephemera I collect into a smash journal Doing fairly well at this, and I actually love it.
- Start rental company with Mom - Yay for an excuse to live at estate sales and thrift stores Booth for the next bridal showcase rented, we'll see how it goes.
- Roadtrip with Taylor a few times Kentucky, PA x2 and NJ and SC later this summer? Counting this as DONE!!!
- Turn wardrobe completely into dresses and skirts - I feel so much more confident when I'm not in jeans I bought a pair of red jeans, which are awesome, but mostly I wear skirts and dresses. So I'm counting this as DONE!!!
All in all, not too shabby! And I still have seven month to go, so you know, I might actually accomplish all of this. You never know!
Did you know Taylor has a list too? He will be posting it soon!

Lists I Make
I make a lot of lists. Most of them are practical lists like what we need to pick up at Target or what needs to get done for the wedding or how we should organize the massive cleaning of the apartment or which bills are due when.
But a lot of them aren't practical at all. And involve things like what I would plant if I owned a house or which names are perfect for babies or which ingredients sound like perfect waffle ingredients. And I write these down in journals or email them to Taylor or make notes on my phone.
I have lists EVERYWHERE. One day I am going to compile them all into one massive journal because I think future me would appreciate that.
By the way I am totally planting honeysuckle (even if it is a weed), Imogene Pearl is a current favorite female name combination, and I think the world needs some coconut raspberry waffles.

So how bout them life goals eh?
Lets revisit my 24 before 24 list shall we? Cuz I don't know that I'm making that much headway on it...
24 Before 24 List
- Get married - duh This one I kind of have to wait until October for.
- Get pin-up girl tattoo - Tay is going to design it! I'm super excited. Gonna be the coolest mom at the PTA Since I'm making Taylor design it, and I'm currently demanding save the dates and website headers from him, this one might take a while. Also...I need to save up some monies.
- Move into a house - Can we talk about how over landlords I am? Obviously we haven't moved into a house yet. Still over landlords though.
- Learn basic embroidery - Cuz I wanna be a well rounded housewife Yeah...I read the book mom gave me, but haven't actually stitched anything...
- Master chocolate chip cookies - I swear I can never get them to bake up properly Next month is chocolate chip cookie month. If you have any recipes send em my way.
- Keep a pretty fridge - I suppose I should start with cleaning it... We have groceries in the fridge...which is a step in the right direction.
- Finish my book - Seriously, I have the whole plot, just have to write it! Next
- Do the DIYs I pin to pinterest - Otherwise whats the point in saving them? OOOO!!!! I did this one. Hahahaha, big strides.
- Learn to style my hair - Should possibly invest in a brush, and a curling iron I learned to do a georgian knot. Which is a bit more adult than pig tails...
- Refinish vintage trunks - So they can actually be used as storage We have the wallpaper!
- Sew t-shirt quilt - Or donate all the tshirts that no longer fit Yeah...next.
- Write more letters - Who doesn't like receiving snail mail? I am writing tons of letters lately! And loving it! I've also started writing once a month for More Love Letters. You should too.
- Complete Lego Star Wars on the wii I forgot this was a goal! Excited now.
- Maintain a daily journal - Mom bought me an awesome one for Christmas I was doing REALLY well, and then I misplaced said journal...
- Take more pictures - With the awesome instax camera my parents gave me for Christmas and the digital one they gave me for my birthday last year. Instagram has been used ALOT, but I keep forgetting to use real cameras.
- Take "if you can't say something nice don't say anything at all" to heart - This will be hard Yeah. Still hard.
- Sew skirts and dresses - I have so many patterns and fabric already I'm doing very poorly with the craft themed ones.
- Learn to like a non starch vegetable - Tomatoes are a fruit and don't count I'm all about some spinach...
- Find some form of exercise Next.
- Finish knitting the scarf I've had laying around for two years I'm going to focus on this during my overly drugged week.
- Put all the random ephemera I collect into a smash journal Doing fairly well at this. Need to steal a glue stick from Mom.
- Start rental company with Mom - Yay for an excuse to live at estate sales and thrift stores I am redoing the website as we speak...and I think we are going to rent a booth at the next bridal showcase.
- Roadtrip with Taylor a few times We've been to Kentucky and West Virginia already. We have plans for the Carolinas in August. I count this as accomplished.
- Turn wardrobe completely into dresses and skirts - I feel so much more confident when I'm not in jeans I was doing REALLY well until I couldn't figure out how to bowl in a dress...
So you know...not so good on the headway...but in my defense I've been super busy with doctors appointments, and wedding planning, and work, and you know...life. >_<

Resolutions
So yes I am a tad bit late on the whole New Year's Resolutions thing. But it's cool, because I'm not really doing resolutions, instead I have a list of 24 things I want to do before I turn 24. Some of them are big things, most of them are silly things, but hopefully I get all of them done.
I mean I do have an entire year.
24 Before 24 List
- Get married - duh
- Get pin-up girl tattoo - Tay is going to design it! I'm super excited. Gonna be the coolest mom at the PTA
- Move into a house - Can we talk about how over landlords I am?
- Learn basic embroidery - Cuz I wanna be a well rounded housewife
- Master chocolate chip cookies - I swear I can never get them to bake up properly
- Keep a pretty fridge - I suppose I should start with cleaning it...
- Finish my book - Seriously, I have the whole plot, just have to write it!
- Do the DIYs I pin to pinterest - Otherwise whats the point in saving them?
- Learn to style my hair - Should possibly invest in a brush, and a curling iron
- Refinish vintage trunks - So they can actually be used as storage
- Sew t-shirt quilt - Or donate all the tshirts that no longer fit
- Write more letters - Who doesn't like receiving snail mail?
- Complete Lego Star Wars on the wii
- Maintain a daily journal - Mom bought me an awesome one for Christmas
- Take more pictures - With the awesome instax camera my parents gave me for Christmas and the digital one they gave me for my birthday last year.
- Take "if you can't say something nice don't say anything at all" to heart - This will be hard
- Sew skirts and dresses - I have so many patterns and fabric already
- Learn to like a non starch vegetable - Tomatoes are a fruit and don't count
- Find some form of exercise
- Finish knitting the scarf I've had laying around for two years
- Put all the random ephemera I collect into a smash journal
- Start rental company with Mom - Yay for an excuse to live at estate sales and thrift stores
- Roadtrip with Taylor a few times
- Turn wardrobe completely into dresses and skirts - I feel so much more confident when I'm not in jeans
Right?
